Traffic stop on Homer Road leads to drug arrests

by Minden Press-Herald

A traffic stop for a red-light violation on Homer Road resulted in the arrest of two Minden residents on multiple drug charges, according to a Minden Police Department report.

An officer reported observing a white Buick SUV run a red light at the intersection of Homer Road and Bymo Street. The vehicle was stopped at Homer Road and Gladney Street.

The driver was identified as Shawn Rambin, 47, of Minden. Police said Rambin told the officer his driver’s license was suspended. Due to what the officer described as increased nervousness and movement inside the vehicle, Rambin was asked to step out. After being advised of his rights, Rambin told officers there was a synthetic marijuana cigarette inside a cigarette pack in the back seat. Officers located the pack containing two rolled synthetic marijuana cigarettes. Rambin was taken into custody.

The passenger was identified as Sallie Hill, 68, of Minden. After being advised of her rights, Hill told officers there might be illegal items inside the vehicle but said she was unsure. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered approximately 7.9 grams of methamphetamine, 4.5 grams of marijuana, several pills, multiple glass pipes, clear plastic bags, a scale, and two torches on the passenger-side seat.

Police said additional methamphetamine was later found on the floorboard of a patrol unit after Hill’s transport.

Hill was charged with possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substances with intent to distribute, possession of clonazepam, possession of oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice and possession of a legend drug.

Rambin was charged with failure to obey traffic control signals, driving under suspension and possession of synthetic marijuana.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
