The Minden Crimson Tide open the non-select Division II playoffs with Game 1 of a best-of-3 second-round series against No. 9 Iota Friday at 4 p.m. at Griffith Stadium.
No. 8 seed Minden (22-11) received a first-round bye. No. 9 Iota (19-9) swept No. 24 South Terrebonne 2-1 and 5-4.
Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. Game 3, if necessary, is scheduled to be played after the completion of Game 2.
Game 1 was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. but it was moved up because of the threat of inclement weather.
Glenbrook is the only other parish team still in the playoffs. The No. 11 seed Apaches (17-14) visit No. 6 Riverside Academy (20-10) April 30 in a select Division IV second-round game.
Iota is a member of District 4-3A. The Bulldogs, who won the district with a 5-0 record, have won 15 of their last 17 games.
Iota got two solid pitching performances in the first round. Jakson Yeager pitched a complete game in the first. He allowed nine hits, struck out six and walked one. Kaylor Broussard allowed just three hits in six innings in the second.
Last year, Iota was swept by North Vermilion in the second round.
Minden hasn’t played an official game since defeating Converse 8-4 on April 13.
The Tide won their final two regular-season games after dropping four straight, including two to defending state champion North DeSoto, this year’s No. 2 seed.
Last year, Minden went into the playoffs as the No. 14 seed. The Tide swept Cecilia in the first round then was swept by No. 3 Lutcher in the second.
