The Greater Minden Chamber recognized 19 students from across Webster Parish during its 2026 Webster Youth Leadership Program graduation ceremony held Tuesday, April 28.

The Webster Youth Leadership Program gives participants an opportunity to spend one day each month exploring different aspects of community leadership, business, government, and civic life.

The ceremony opened with prayer by Brody Walker, followed by comments from graduates Mia Feaster and Hayden Gregg. Mayor Nick Cox served as guest speaker.

Chamber President Stephanie Barnette praised the students for the commitment they made throughout the eight-month program.

“While these students may have stepped away from the classroom one day each month, they were stepping into something just as meaningful: real world experiences, important conversations, and a deeper understanding of the community around them,” Barnette said.

Addressing the graduates, she added, “You represent the best of what our future can be. I’m thankful I had the opportunity to get to know you and be a small part of your journey.”

“Wherever life takes you, leadership matters,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of the class, Feaster reflected on lessons learned during the program.

“Throughout our journey, we’ve learned that real leaders show up even when it’s hard, they listen, they support, and they continue to grow,” Feaster said.

Gregg also spoke about the insight the program provided into the workings of Webster Parish.

“Throughout the eight months I’ve spent in this program, I’ve got to learn not just about leadership but about how everything works in our community … I never expected how much truly goes into Webster Parish. This program has benefitted me in so many ways,” Gregg said.

Cox thanked the Chamber for continuing to invest in young people through the annual initiative.

“I’m thankful for this program. I’m thankful for Stephanie and Katie and the Chamber board for putting on this program year after year, instilling in our minds at an early age, all the parts of a community,” Cox said.

He encouraged students to develop the qualities necessary for effective leadership, including integrity, adaptability, and the willingness to listen to others.

“I’ve gotten to know this group. They’re the kind of leaders who will plow through. This group is made of individuals with a large amount of character. And lastly, I cannot wait to see what role they play in the future,” he said.

Graduates recognized during the ceremony included Kaylee Johnson of Doyline High School; Ella Durden, Amelia Lott, Scarlett O’Glee, Brody Walker, and Kyla Whitt of Glenbrook School; Teal Austin, Hayden Gregg, Joshua Hasty, Maggie Mandino, Joe McGraw, Adleigh Moore, and Meredith Robinson of Lakeside High School; and Mia Feaster, Layla Garrett, Emma Herring, Ava Martin, Angel Stewart, and Topher Wilson of Minden High School.

The graduation meal was provided by Hugh Wood Catering.
