Minden Sip and Stroll draws large crowd to historic downtown

by Amber McDown

People filled the streets of historic downtown Minden on Saturday evening as the inaugural Minden Sip and Stroll brought shoppers, food, drinks, and local vendors together for a bustling community event.

Presented by Minden Main Street, the event transformed downtown into a lively destination from 4 PM to 8 PM. Attendees purchased $20 wristbands that allowed them to stroll through participating businesses, sampling drinks and food while shopping at local stores and browsing vendor booths.

Warm, sunny weather helped draw a large turnout, with sidewalks and storefronts remaining busy throughout the evening.

Live musical entertainment was provided by Cynthia Sandidge, whose performance added to the festive atmosphere as visitors explored downtown.

Local vendors and downtown merchants reported strong customer traffic during the event. Several vendors commented that the Sip and Stroll should become a regular event, noting they stayed busy throughout the evening because of the large crowds.

In addition to local businesses and vendors, a bookmobile made a stop during the event, offering another attraction for families and visitors exploring downtown.

The inaugural Sip and Stroll is the latest event hosted by Minden Main Street to promote downtown businesses and encourage community engagement. Based on the enthusiastic turnout and positive feedback from vendors and attendees, the event made a strong debut as a summertime attraction in downtown Minden.
