(PROJECT UPDATE 7/17/2026): DOTD advises motorists that asphalt paving operations continue to be in full swing on US 171 (Hearne Ave) in Shreveport as part of the ongoing $9.6 million project to repair a section of the busy roadway.
Contractor crews are currently laying down the final layer of asphalt along the project, which stretches from US 80 (Greenwood Rd) to LA 3132.
Drivers should anticipate ongoing intermittent lane closures to allow these construction activities to progress safely and efficiently, and know that crews may be working at various intersections at any point to conduct paving and tie-in work on side streets.
Future work includes the application of permanent roadway striping and any miscellaneous tasks.
Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution through the construction zone.
The overall project is estimated to wrap up in late Summer 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
