A Sarepta woman was arrested after allegedly taking jewelry from her sister’s home while staying there during her sister’s vacation, according to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Melody “Batman” Carter, 34, was arrested and booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on a theft charge and two Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants.
According to the sheriff’s office report, Carter was staying at her sister’s residence while her sister was on vacation from July 19 through July 27. Carter told investigators she had a male friend come to the residence for “sex” and gave him money for gas.
Afterward, Carter asked the man to pick up her children, according to the report. The man allegedly requested additional money and said he would take gold instead.
Carter told investigators her sister had gold jewelry locked in her bedroom. The report states Carter and the man broke into the bedroom and took two rings and a necklace from a jewelry box.
According to the report, the man said he planned to pawn the jewelry and retrieve it before Carter’s sister returned home. Carter admitted to investigators that she took the jewelry without permission.
