The Minden Police Association’s annual banquet drew a large crowd Saturday night as residents, businesses, and supporters gathered for an evening of fundraising and fellowship in support of local law enforcement.

The event featured a live auction, silent auction, raffles, and a split-the-pot drawing, with a wide variety of items available to attendees. Kyle Towns served as auctioneer for the live auction.

Minden Mayor Nick Cox thanked those in attendance for supporting the association and recognized the event’s sponsors, without whom the event would not have been possible. He went on to praise the Minden Police Association and the work the do.
“One of the things that I appreciate about the Minden Police Association is it gives the officers an additional way to serve our community. We all know our police department answers calls, they patrol our streets, and they respond when something goes wrong, but a lot of people may not see what happens after they answer the calls. Through this association, our officers have been able to help victims of violent crime who suddenly needed somewhere safe to stay. They support domestic violence programs. They contribute to community events and charitable efforts, and last year the association even helped the city purchase a new K9 for the city police department. That tells you something about the people behind the badge. Police officers often meet people on the worst day of their lives. What I appreciate about this association is they don’t just take care of people in their worst moment, but they look and they say, ‘What can we do to make this situation better?’ That is what community is all about. As mayor, I’m proud of the men and women of the Minden Police Department, and I also want to tell this association how much I appreciate the extra effort they make to serve the citizens of Minden.”
Proceeds from the banquet help support the association’s community outreach, officer support, and scholarship efforts.
Following the event, the Minden Police Association expressed its appreciation to the community on social media.

“We simply have no words. What an amazing night full of POSITIVE interaction with our beloved community. THANK YOU MINDEN FOR SHOWING UP AND SHOWING OUT. Thank you to every donor and every single person who showed up and supported our cause. We are already planning for next year!”
The association’s annual banquet is one of its primary fundraising events and provides an opportunity for the department’s officers to interact with residents outside of their regular law enforcement duties.
