Judge Doug Stinson has been unanimously selected by the judges of the Twenty-Sixth Judicial District Court to serve as the court’s Chief Judge, effective August 5, 2026.
As Chief Judge, Judge Stinson will oversee the administration of the court while continuing to maintain a regular caseload.
Judge Stinson currently presides over Division D of the Twenty-Sixth Judicial District Court. The Twenty-Sixth Judicial District Court is a state court of general jurisdiction, with judges presiding over civil, criminal, and juvenile matters in both Bossier and Webster parishes.
Judge Stinson was elected to the bench in March 2022 and sworn into office on April 18, 2022. On August 7, 2026, he was re-elected without opposition to serve another six-year term.
Judge Stinson received his undergraduate degree from LSU in Baton Rouge in 2004 and his law degree from LSU Law School in 2008. He is a member of the Louisiana District Judges Association, the Bossier Bar Association, the Shreveport Bar Association, and the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Prior to his election to the bench, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bossier Parish for nearly 10 years, maintained a civil law practice and served as the attorney for the Town of Benton and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office.
