A man whose body was discovered Sunday in a wooded area north of Minden has been identified as a local resident.
Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker said the deceased was 43-year-old Samuel Dance, who lived on Blue Run Road.
Family members positively identified Dance from photographs taken during the investigation, Parker said.
The body was transported to Little Rock, Arkansas, for an autopsy. Parker said no cause of death has been reported at this time.
Dance’s body was discovered at approximately 5:40 PM Sunday by two people walking along a creek bank east of Willard Ray Road. Investigators estimated the body had been in the wooded area for approximately five to six days and was badly decomposed.
