Ezernack
A woman who was reportedly drinking Irish coffee before crashing her car Sunday was arrested on her fifth DWI charge.
Michelle Ezernack, 57, of the 3400 block of Hiawatha Drive in Shreveport, was arrested for careless operation and DWI fifth offense.
Deputy Marshall Merritt was dispatched to Louisiana Highway 527 after Ezernack crashed the car she was driving.
Ezernack appeared to be ‘very’ impaired and had trouble maintaining her balance, according to the arrest affidavit. She also had a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath and person, the report said.
At the patrol office, Ezernack reportedly refused to provide a breath sample or perform a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test.
Around two hours after being taken into custody, Ezernack provided a breath sample, which registered at 0.098 percent. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
She then told deputies she had drank Irish coffee and beer before getting behind the wheel, the report said.
Ezernack was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
In an unrelated incident, a woman driving on the wrong side of the road was arrested on a DWI charge.
Bass
Tiffany Bass, 42, of the 1200 block of Thomas Street in Sarepta, was arrested on a charge of DWI first offense.
Deputy Troy Walker was patrolling along Louisiana Highway 371 when he saw Bass’s car cross over the fog line and drive on the shoulder of the road.
Bass then turned onto North Main Street and was driving on the wrong side of the road.
Walker stopped Bass and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage could be smelled from her breath and person, according to the arrest affidavit.
Bass reportedly failed a standard field sobriety test and transported to the Springhill Police Department to provide a breath sample.
Bass’ blood alcohol content was 0.176 percent, the report said.
She was booked into BDCC.
