Krewe of Artemis-Springhill kicks off Mardi Gras Season

by Minden Press-Herald

The Krewe of Artemis-Springhill made their annual presentation of King Cakes to the five North Webster Parish Mayors signaling the kick off of Mardi Gras 2019!  Mardi Gras begins each year twelve days after Christmas on January 6. It is believed that the wisemen found the baby Jesus then!

Pictured are: Mayor of Springhill Ray Huddleston, Mayor of Shongaloo Tim Mouser, Mayor of Cullen Terry Hoof, Mayor of Sarepta Peggy Adkins and Mayor of Cotton Valley Joseph Alexander, along with C.V. Utility Clerk Michelle Jackson and C. V. Town Clerk Tiffany Parish, happily accepting the cream cheese flavored purple, green and gold decorated King Cakes.

Artemis members attending these events were Captain Diane Marie, Queen Artemis XVI Kari Dinkins, Ginger Blanton, Donna Waring, Bert Harris, Janet Reeves, Mike Reeves and John Jandebeur.

During this Carnival season the Krewe of Artemis will be visiting the area schools and nursing home, hosting a Grand Mardi Gras Bal on January 12,  and participating in numerous area parades.  These volunteers act as goodwill ambassadors for our communities.
