Summer is here and I always love to dream about the places I could go and the fun I could have. I am in Maine at this time and loving being with my family.
There is a lot to do throughout the state of Maine. But, where I am from, the “excitement” is quite a distance away. We are in the country so to speak.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to do. You can go sightseeing, visit family and eat great seafood.
On that note, I can tell that I will get my fill with lobster and scallops for sure during this trip.
What are you plans for the summer? I love to see all the trips people take and what they do. One of favorite things to do during the summer is to get my family together and rent a beach house. We don’t have to do anything but sit on the beach for the week.
I love it when the water is rough. We love riding the waves.
After a day at the beach, we go explore and have some fun at night. I say I would love to live on the beach but I do think it would get old after awhile.
The people I know that live by the beach don’t hardly go to the beach. The beach is definitely be my peaceful getaway. In addition, since I love people watching also, the beach is a perfect place.
One other of our favorite things to do is to go on a cruise. It is the best when you can get a group to go together. The food is endless, and there is a lot to do, without even getting off the boat. You get to go to countries you normally would not visit otherwise.
Another great thing about a cruise is that you have to be away from your phone for a week. I don’t get the internet because it is time to unplug and relax. I do use my phone for lots of photos and they do have it where you can use your phone like a walkie talkie. Other than that we have everyone’s attention and it is amazing.
There are several trips people can do that don’t cost a whole bunch of money. You wouldn’t have to travel far either. Just google things to do around the Ark-La-Tex, or download the Webster Parish Tourism app.
There are lots of flea markets we love to go to. There are several zoos around, along with couple of amusement parks. There are, of course, tons of places to shop. We also have several lakes that have cabins on them.
There is something for everyone and places just to get away and decompress. I hope you all have a great summer and remember it is going to be hot and use sunscreen.
Honey Glazed Fruit Salad
Ingredients:
1 lb fresh strawberries , sliced
1 lb fresh pineapple , sliced
12 oz fresh blueberries
12 oz red grapes , cut into into halves
4 kiwis , peeled and sliced
1 (15 oz) can mandarin oranges, drained well
2 ripe bananas sliced
Honey Glaze Dressing
4 Tbsp honey
Juice of 1 large lemon about 3 Tablespoons
Juice of 1 medium orange about 1/4 cup
Directions:
Add all fruit to a large mixing bowl. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together they honey, lemon juice and orange juice. Pour over fruit just before serving and toss to evenly coat.
