Buddy Myles had this to say about winning the race for District A’s council seat.

“I just want to thank the people of Minden, for all of their support and for sticking beside me. Also I’d like to thank Councilman Edwards for his years of service to our community. It takes sacrifice to do that. Myself and I’m sure the community appreciates him very much.

“I’m looking forward to working with the new council to grow and implement new changes in the city to help us move forward from the days of the past. We have capable people on the council and in the mayor’s seat, and everyone is ready to work with one another.

“In the short amount of time since the runoff, I’ve gotten numerous texts and calls from people who are ready to move the city forward, and I’m ready to do that as well. I’m looking forward to a new Minden.

“Again I want to say thank you to the people of District A, and to the new council and mayor, let’s put our boots on and get to work,” said Myles.

Latasha Anderson also shared her thanks to her supporters and ensured that she would continue to keep open communication with her constituents to help bring forth the changes in Minden that will move the city forward.

“First I want to thank God, then I want to thank all the people that voted for me and supported me, through the primaries and the runoff. I had some good supporters, I really did.

“I worked hard for this position. I walked and I talked and I talked and I walked to all the people in District C, and it paid off. I’m going to continue talking to people in the community, and anyone with any concerns is more than welcome to call or email me,” said Mitchell.

Proposed Amendment No. 1 which asked “Do you support an amendment to provide that no person who is not a citizen of the United States shall be allowed to register and vote in this state?” passed with 73% of the votes, meaning only US citizens will be allowed to register to vote and then vote in Louisiana.
