Football: Minden High pair sign to play at the next level

Minden’s Makhi Reed and Jaylin Williams signed to play at the next level on National Signing Day Wednesday.

Reed, a defensive lineman, signed with Lamar University. Williams, wide receiver, signed with Butler (Kansas) Community College,

Glenbrook All-State linebacker Rhett Johnson is planning to sign with Sputhern Arkansas during a 9:30 a.m. ceremony at the school Friday.

A three-year starter, Reed was a first-team All-District 1-4A selection his junior and senior seasons. He was second team as a sophomore.

According to information on the Cardinals signees on the Lamar website, he  was rated  the No. 54 prospect in the state of Louisiana according to DandyDon.com. He was  also rated as the No. 8 defensive lineman and the No. 4 defensive tackle on that list.

Reed also received recruiting attention from Air Force and Navy.

Williams was a second-team All-District selection. 

Parkway Class 5A All-State running back Jaylan White also signed with Butler. 

Butler was ranked No. 9 in the final NJCAA poll last season after going 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the Jayhawk Conference.
