A conference call took place Tuesday morning between Entergy, AEP/SWEPCO, and the City of Minden to discuss the plans for repairs at the Gilark Substation. It should be noted that, at this time, there is currently no scheduled power outage planned for the City of Minden.
“Entergy emphasized its priority to minimize any inconvenience to the residents and businesses in Minden considering the high temperatures. Ensuring the safety of its linemen is also a top concern for Entergy,” Mayor Nick Cox stated.
“The proposed plan involves setting up a temporary bypass to allow Entergy crews to safely and thoroughly repair the damage at the substation. Both Entergy and the City of Minden have agreed that the most suitable time for these repairs is late in the evening and throughout the night. As of now, there is no scheduled power outage.”
It was also stated that Entergy crews are currently in the process of procuring the necessary equipment and materials for the repair and are working on a plan to minimize the duration of any potential outage.
“Another conference call involving Entergy, AEP/SWEPCO, and the City of Minden is scheduled for late tonight to finalize the date, time, and estimated duration of the repair. The City of Minden will provide an update as soon as this information becomes available,” said Cox.
