Successful inaugural Oktober Fall Fest on Pearl Street

by Amber McDown

Roma Italian Bistro and Under Dawgs came together to host their first-ever Oktober Fall Fest on October 21, located on Pearl Street. This festive occasion featured a lineup of musical performances, a mesmerizing magician, a spirited costume contest, and a 50/50 drawing utilized as a fundraising effort for the Joe LeBlanc food pantry.

With the event marking its inaugural appearance, the organizers were uncertain about the turnout they could anticipate. Chase Spillers enthusiastically remarked, “We weren’t exactly sure what kind of turnout to expect, but to say our expectations were exceeded by a mile would be an understatement! I think people really enjoyed being able to take their food and drinks outside to relish the music and the communal spirit. Some even took to the street for impromptu dancing!”

The costume contest, a magnet for attendees of all ages, offered enticing cash prizes for the top three participants: $150 for the first-place winner, $75 for the second-place contestant, and $50 for the third-place victor.

Embracing the Bavarian theme with enthusiasm, event organizers sported lederhosen attire.

As the night drew to a close, the 50/50 drawing had successfully raised $704. The fortunate winner, Scott McCalister, demonstrated remarkable generosity by donating his half, ensuring that the Joe LeBlanc food pantry would receive the full amount.

In the words of Chase Spillers, “All in all, everyone who had a hand in making this happen is very proud of the outcome, and already buzzing about next year.” The inaugural Oktober Fall Fest promises an exciting prospect for future festivities.
