Scottish Tartan Festival receives $4,000 toward the festival this spring

On November 6, the Webster Parish Convention & Visitors Commission presented the Scottish Society of the Louisiana Highlands with a check for $4,000 to be used toward the upcoming Scottish Tartan Festival which will be taking place in downtown Minden for the second time on April 20, 2024. This will be the 22nd time this festival has taken place in the Minden area.

The move to Miller Quarters in downtown Minden last year proved to be a successful decision, with over 3,000 people coming out to enjoy this engaging event.

“That’s huge,” said Serena Gray, executive director for the Webster Parish Convention & Visitors Commission. “It has to be one of the largest events we’ve hosted in downtown Minden. There’s no doubt that this year is going to be even bigger and better than last year.”

Shelia Hoh, president of  the Scottish Society of the Louisiana Highlands, stated, “We are really excited to be able to come back and have the festival again this spring. It’s a really special thing for us; it’s one of the things that brought a lot of the members we have today to find us. Minden just opened their arms last year, and we just can’t express how grateful we are to Webster Parish as well as to the city. We’re looking forward to another awesome festival.”

The Webster Parish Convention & Visitors Commission offers two grants: a $4,000 matching major event grant and a $2,000 advertising grant.

“By the end of this year, we will have given probably over $60,000 in grants back to the community in order to have events just like this take place. It’s a program that we’re proud of,” said Gray. Event organizers who are interested in receiving one of these grants should contact the Webster Parish Convention & Visitors Commission for more information.
