The Minden Main Street Board of Directors welcomed its newest member Monday during the Minden City Council meeting.
Betsy Mathews was appointed to serve on the board after member Denton Culpepper submitted a letter of resignation in May.
Culpepper cited work obligations as preventing him from attending meetings and having an active role on the board.
Matthews will fill Culpepper’s term, which is set to expire on Sept. 8, 2017.
“I love the people of Minden and I want to help,” Matthews, who works at Webster Printing in downtown Minden, said. “I love giving back to this wonderful community.”
Board President Terry Gardner shared Mathews’ joy in her appointment.
“We are absolutely excited to have her join our board,” he said. “With her many talents, she will be a huge asset to the board.”
The board is currently working on the inaugural Grilling on Main BBQ competition set for June 18.
