Suzanne Graham, digital archivist for the Webster Parish Library, will be the guest speaker for the Minden Lions Club meeting on Nov. 3. She will speak about the Webster Parish Digital Archive and historical document preservation initiatives.
Since the fall of 2013, Graham has worked to create the Webster Parish Library Digital Archive and actively seeks materials from the public such as photographs, documents, obituaries, videos and audio recordings. In addition to the archive, she also assists patrons with general and genealogical research, hosts the monthly Webster Parish Library Genealogy Group meetings, conducts oral history interviews, and works the Information Center desk. Graham believes that although archeology may be more fun than preservation, preserving history today is better than leaving it for someone to excavate later.
Previously, Graham worked as an archaeological lab manager and as a museum tech, as well as participated in numerous archeological and preservation projects. She is a graduate of Northwestern State University with a B.A. (2009) and a M.A. (2011) in Heritage Resources. Graham and her husband, Larry, have two children, Chelsea and Wesley, and reside in Bienville Parish.
The Minden Lions Club meets Thursdays at noon at the American Legion Memorial Home, located at 119 Pine St. in Minden.
