Father, daughter arrested after domestic incident in Minden

by Minden Press-Herald

A domestic dispute between a father and daughter led to both being arrested Tuesday morning at a home on Durwood Drive, according to Minden police.

Officers were dispatched to the residence around 7:25 AM September 30 after a report of an altercation involving a father and his two daughters. When officers arrived, they found one of the girls crying and the other visibly upset and shouting, according to the report.

Police said the younger daughter reported she was slapped by her father, Anton Law, 51, after being late for school and not having her uniform ready. She also told officers that Law took away her phone and headphones as punishment. Redness was observed under her right eye, and she reported that he grabbed her arm during the incident.

The older daughter, Li’alnaeijah Lewis, 18, told police she confronted Law after learning of the altercation and began collecting her sister’s belongings. She claimed Law struck her with a closed fist and pushed her, prompting her to hit him in the head with a pair of headphones.

Law told officers his daughter struck him while he was attempting to stop her from taking the devices. Police observed a knot on the side of his forehead and a ripped shirt.

Following the investigation, police determined that Law committed misdemeanor domestic abuse battery against his younger daughter. Lewis was determined to have committed aggravated battery against Law.

Both were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Minden Police Department. Police collected the broken headphones as evidence.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
