The Greater Minden Chamber kicked off its 2024 Chamber Connect After Hours series on January 30 at the Minden Civic Center. Hosted by Minden City Court Judge Sherb Sentell III and Ward Marshal Dan Weaver, the event provided an opportunity for chamber members to engage in networking and socializing.

The quarterly Chamber Connect events are known for fostering new business opportunities, with statistics revealing that 75 to 80% of networking efforts lead to the creation of new business relationships. The gathering featured not only networking but also authentic German cuisine prepared by Marshal Weaver’s wife, Lucy, and door prizes.

Judge Sentell and Marshal Weaver took the opportunity to share insights into their respective professions, emphasizing their commitment to making Minden a better place to live. Sentell highlighted the broad jurisdiction of Minden City Court, extending beyond Minden to serve the south end of the parish, including Sibley, Heflin, Dixie Inn, Doyline, and Dubberly. The court handles a range of cases, from adult misdemeanors to juvenile cases and civil disputes.

Addressing the audience, Judge Sentell expressed his passion for juvenile justice, stating, “I’m passionate about saving our juveniles. I want to save them, and every time we can, it makes a huge difference.” He urged local business owners to prosecute theft cases, emphasizing the importance of seeking restitution.

Ward Marshal Dan Weaver shared his enthusiasm for serving as the Ward 1 Marshal, emphasizing the multifaceted role of Ward Marshals beyond civil case paper service. Weaver and his team are dedicated to ensuring the proper delivery of court papers, supporting the legal process. “We do everything we can to try to make sure that the person who has spent the money to file a suit hasn’t wasted that money,” he said.

The next Greater Minden Chamber event is scheduled for June 29 from 4:30 until 6 PM at the front lobby of Minden Medical Center. For more information, interested parties can contact Chamber President Stephanie Barnette at [email protected].
