High school baseball: Glenbrook gets two shutout victories in Grace Christian tournament

The Glenbrook Apaches shut out two opponents in the Grace Christian tournament Saturday.

Glenbrook defeated Rapides 9-0 and Northside Christian 13-0. Both games went five innings.

Elsewhere, Minden fell to Cedar Creek 5-1 at Griffith Stadium on the final day of the Northwood tournament.

Glenbrook’s Easton Sanders pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks against Rapides.

Ryan Reagan went 2-for-3. Sanders and Sam Ricord had two RBI each.

The Apaches took advantage but of eight walks. Landry Powell drew three of those and Sanders two.

Preston Frye was twice hit by pitches. 

Frye pitched a no-hitter against Northside Christian. He struck out 12 and walked two. 

Jackson Waller went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI. His three-run home run gave the Apaches an 8-0 lead in the fourth.

Dawson Day went 2-for-3. Ricord had two RBI. Powell and Hudson Glasscock drew two walks each.

Glenbrook (7-8), which has won four in a row, is scheduled to resume District 1-1A play Monday at Haynesville at 5:30.

At Minden, the game was tied at 1 after four innings. But Cedar Creek scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Kade Luker limited the Tide to two hits. He struck out six and walked two.

Minden starter Landon Brewer allowed just two hits and no earned runs in five innings. He struck out five and walked six.

Brody Bower had a double.

Cedar Creek improved to 8-8. Minden (10-6) is scheduled to host Loyola Tuesday at 6.

The Tide is scheduled to get another shot at Cedar Creek Wednesday in Ruston.
