A Homer man was arrested on September 6 after resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer while being taken into custody on three active bench warrants.

Kevin Ford, 38, was initially detained by the Minden Police Department on warrants for remaining after being forbidden, failure to use child restraints, and driving with a suspended license. While being transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center (BDCC), Ford reportedly resisted officers, claiming there were no warrants against him.

According to the police report, Ford grabbed one of the officers by the neck while resisting being placed in handcuffs. The officer, with assistance from another officer, was able to subdue Ford and complete the arrest.

In addition to the bench warrants, Ford now faces additional charges of resisting arrest with force, a felony, and battery on a police officer.

Ford was transported to BDCC without further incident.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
