Traffic stop leads to drug, firearm arrest in Minden

by Minden Press-Herald

A routine traffic stop in Minden on September 9 resulted in the arrest of two men on drug and firearm-related charges.

A Minden police officer observed a red Fiat 500 traveling along Sheppard Street with a windshield obstructed by multiple cracks. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Issac Clarkson, admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that morning and handed over a marijuana cigarette upon request.

Clarkson complied when asked to exit the vehicle. During a frisk, officers discovered a knife and a cellophane wrapper containing marijuana in his pocket. Further search of the vehicle revealed two suspected ecstasy pills and a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat.

The passenger, Anterio McClendon, was also taken into custody after Minden police dispatch confirmed active warrants for his arrest.

Both men were transported to the Minden Police Department for booking. Clarkson faces multiple charges, including possession of controlled substances and a firearm. He will be transported to the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center due to the felonious nature of the charges. McClendon remains in custody awaiting bond.

The evidence, including the firearm, ammunition, and suspected narcotics, was processed and will be submitted to the crime lab for further analysis.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
