Homegoing celebration services for John L. Cornelius will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11a.m. at the 14th District Building with Pastor Rodney E. Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery.
John L. Cornelius was born July 18, 1945 to the late Soloman Cornelius Sr. and the late Eleena Hicks Corneilus.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Miller Chapel Methodist Church.
John Cornelius faithfully served our country in the United States Army. He obtained the rank of Corporal and received many awards and badges.
He was employed with G & G Drywall for 27 years.
On July 21, John L. departed this earthly life and entered external rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Henreitta, Tressie, Daisy, Carrie, Louise, Bernice, and Albertta; his brothers: L.T., Johnny B., Karon and Willie.

Margie McKinsey Cornelius; a daughter, Antoinette Gibson; three sons, Anthony Henry (Sandra), Antonio Carr (LaTresa), and Dewayne Talton; stepson, Vincent King (Undrea); 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Myra Martin and Mary Connor; three brothers, Wilson Cornelius, James Cornelius, and Soloman Cornelius Jr.; uncle, Jewel Cornelius; aunt, Clariece Edwards; sister-in-law, Edith Cornelius; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 29 in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected].
