Johnny Edwards Sr. was the seventh of eight children born to the late Rosie Shine Edwards and John Edwards. He grew up in Webster Parish Community where he confessed Christ at an early age.
He was a 1960 graduate of Webster High School and attended Butler College in Tyler, Texas.
He joined the New Light Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the choir. Later in life he fellowshipped at the New Hope Baptist Church in Castor under the leadership of Pastor Irving Caldwell where he served as Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, and Choir Member.
He was employed by the Louisiana Ammunition Plant, Clement Industries, and Brown Builders. He was a devoted and dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved serving in the church and singing was his favorite past time. Johnny received his heavenly wings and went home to his Lord and Savior on Nov. 23, 2017.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at 1 p.m. at New Light Baptist Church, located at 413 W. R. Redder St. in Minden. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Minden.
