Johnny Rowland to speak at Lions Club

by Minden Press-Herald

Guest speaker for Thursday’s noon meeting of the Minden Lions Club will be Johnny Rowland, Webster Parish Schools superintendent.

Mr. Rowland is a native of Webster Parish. He comes from a long line of educators and is passionate about Webster Parish Schools and our Webster Ready Start Network. Mr. Rowland is a product of the Webster Parish School System, graduating from Sibley High School in 1986. He earned his degrees from LA Tech University and Centenary College with a Masters +30. Mr. Rowland enjoys farming and spending time with his family, especially his newest grandson, Garrison.

Mr. Rowland’s topic Thursday will be the Webster Ready Start Network (WRSN). As the lead agency for WRSN, Webster Schools is seeking funding for additional seats for birth to three-year olds’ (B-3) education in our parish. In 10 of our WRSN Early Learning Centers, a Tier 1 instructional curriculum is provided to help students enter Kindergarten with the skills needed to be successful. Any funding received will be matched by the La. State Department of Education. Webster Parish currently serve 28 B-3 students and are excited to begin this journey of fundraising for our future students.
