Jon Daniel Ozment relocated to his Heavenly home Nov. 12, 2016. Jon was born Dec. 17, 1962, in Re Donda Beach, California. He moved to Shreveport as a small child. Jon attended Woodlawn High School where he enjoyed playing football and lifting weights. He graduated in 1980.
He met the love of his life Patty Newman 34 years ago. They married March 19, 1983 and through the years were never far from one another’s side.
Jon loved the outdoors and living in the country. He spent many hours watching deer, rabbits, and squirrels in his backyard. Like most men in the South his favorite past time was fishing for bass and hunting deer.
His main passion in life was his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His heart was burdened for others to become saved and to know Jesus. Even though our hearts are broken by his death, we rejoice knowing that Jon is pain free and walking the streets of gold with Jesus. He often quoted Revalations 21:4.
Services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 1:45 p.m. with service following. Officiating will be Jon’s brother-in-law, Jerry W. Newman of Joaquin, Texas. Graveside service to follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Jason Newman, Jared Newman, Tyler Boudreaux, Kris Gordon, Michael Taylor and James Taylor.
