Karen’s Korner: Encourage one another daily

Many Senior Adults face mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, loss, and loss of purpose. They may struggle silently, or these concerns may be the cause of struggles that result in confusing behavior; or have a profound impact on those around them. Either way, we must be aware that Seniors need encouragement and uplifting communication with others.

It is crucial to provide them with support and motivation through positive phrases, and uplifting messages through spoken words, cards, notes, and messages to uplift their spirits, and enhance their overall well-being.

Even the Word of God expresses it like this: “Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” (Heb. 3:13)

And again: “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.” (Thessalonians 5:11)

A positive thought, a phone call, an e-mail, a note… there are so many ways to support and uplift one another. And it doesn’t take up a lot of time or trouble.

I love the Bible quotes. They always uplift. And I love other quotes too, that are helpful and uplifting as well.

Rick Warren says, “Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go.”

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” Nelson Mandela

Having a positive attitude is more important than any problem, any circumstance or any other concerns. And when we all support and encourage one another, this old world can certainly be a better place!

Come and be a part of the support and love of the Webster Parish Council on Aging. We always want to uplift our Seniors and encourage them to be just who God created them to be.
