KAREN’S KORNER
I know many senior adults who live alone and are not close to their children or grandchildren; or, their families may live in another city or state far from them. That’s why it is so important to have a contact person in their life.
A contact person is one who is readily available, trusted by the person, and easy to contact in case there is an emergency. While the contact person may not be legally responsible for the individual, they are available to reach an individual who is responsible, or have been given specific instructions as to how to proceed. Such as the person’s hospital preference, doctor’s number, family contact or any other pertinent information needed in case of an emergency!
The Center of Disease Control and Prevention states that we all need to check on a senior friend or neighbor often, especially during this heat event we are experiencing now, or at any other time for that matter. Being able to be in contact with someone is always helpful to us all.
Have a great day.
