SIBLEY – The Lakeside Warriors finished off a whirlwind regular season by sweeping Red River at home for senior day Saturday.
Lakeside took care of business in a big way in game one, topping the visiting Bulldogs by a score of 21-1.
The Warriors were led at the plate by senior Josh Prince who finished 4-5 with four singles and 5 RBIs. Brayden Jones had a big day as well, going 2-4 with a pair of doubles and 4 RBIs, followed by Tanner Page who went 2-5 with a single, double and 3 RBIs.
Junior Jake Gray went 2-3 with a pair of singles and 2 RBIs, Dalton Crumpler had a two RBI single and Colton Reno, Jayke Stewart and Gavin Jones added RBI singles to the Lakeside attack.
Brayden Jones started on the mound for the Warriors and went two innings to earn the win. Jones struck out five batters and allowed one hit. Tanner Page fired two scoreless innings in relief, striking out five batters and Jake Gray tossed one scoreless frame to close out the game.
Red River 1
Lakeside wasted no time making it a sweep of Red River, hanging 16 runs on the Bulldogs in a convincing game two win.
The Warriors sent Josh Prince to the mound in game two and he delivered three innings, striking out eight batters and walking one and allowing one run. Colton Carter finished the final two innings, striking out three batters and keeping the Bulldogs off the scoreboard.
Logan McIver and Colton Reno each went 3-3 with three singles and 3 RBIs to lead the Lakeside lineup. Tanner Page had a pair of singles and 2 RBIs, followed by Jake Gray with a double, single and RBI, Colton Carter with a 2-RBI single and Josh Prince with a double and single.
Lakeside wraps up their regular season with a record of 12-12 and will enter the Class 2A playoffs as the No. 28 seed.
The Warriors will travel to face Opelousas Catholic Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. for a spot in the second round.
