Little Miss Germantown pageant set for July 11 in Minden

by Amber McDown

Contestants from infancy through adulthood will have the opportunity to take the stage this summer as the Little Miss Germantown Pageant comes to Minden on Saturday, July 11.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Miss Germantown Volunteer Pageant and the Miss Louisiana Volunteer Pageant, according to Cassidy Jones Comeaux, director of the Miss Germantown Volunteer Pageant.

Comeaux said the pageant is being held locally in support of both organizations, noting that the Miss Louisiana Volunteer Pageant is also hosted in Minden under the direction of Kayla Divelbiss Rodriguez.

“My two Miss Germantown Volunteer queens will be helping with the pageant,” Comeaux said. “So will the reigning Miss Louisiana Volunteer queens.”

The venue is still being finalized, but organizers said the event will definitely take place in Minden.

The pageant is being held in honor and memory of Louise Chandler, longtime director of the Germantown pageant tradition.

Participants of all ages are invited to compete under the theme, “Every age. Every stage. Every Queen. You belong on our stage! Be part of the tradition!”

Age divisions will include Baby Miss for ages 0-11 months, Tiny Miss for ages 12-23 months, Toddler Miss for ages 2-3 years, Miniature Miss for ages 4-5 years, Petite Miss for ages 6-7 years, Little Miss for ages 8-9 years, Junior Miss for ages 10-12 years, PreTeen Miss for ages 13-14 years, Teen Miss for ages 15-17 years, Miss for ages 18-19 years, and Mrs. for contestants age 20 and older, including married women and mothers.

Contestants ages 0-12 will compete in pageant dress, while contestants 13 and older will compete in interview and pageant dress. Scholarship cash awards will be presented in the 13-19 age divisions.

In addition to queen titles and runner-up placements in each division, side awards will be presented for Most Beautiful, Best Personality, Best Smile, Best Eyes, Best Dress, Best Hair, and Most Photogenic.

Promotional materials describe the event as “Celebrating confidence, beauty, and achievement in every girl!”

Professional hair and makeup services will also be available through Christy Cosby & Co., which brings more than 30 years of experience. Appointments may be booked by messaging Christy Cosby on Facebook.

Entry fees are $85 per contestant, payable in full through PayPal or Cash App. The optional photogenic competition is $10. Admission for spectators will be $5 per person, while children ages 2 and under will be admitted free.

Comeaux said current titleholders assisting with the event include Miss Germantown Volunteer Celeste Lay, morning news anchor at KSLA 12, and Miss Germantown Teen Volunteer Brelynn Smith.
