The Miss Minden organization, led by Miss Minden Sadie Brown, and the Young Women’s Service Club will host an End of School Bash for the community on Sunday, May 17, from 2 PM until 4 PM at Victory Park.
The free event is planned as a kickoff to summer for local children and families ahead of the final day of classes for Webster Parish public school students on Tuesday, May 19.
Organizers described the afternoon as “a community party packed with music, dancing, games, and nonstop fun,” with a full slate of activities and community partners participating.
Brown will host a “Confidence Corner,” featuring arts activities, an affirmation station, and a Confidence Club designed to recognize and celebrate children’s accomplishments from the school year.
Miss Minden Teen Volunteer Harleigh Hart will also be on hand with information and signup opportunities for her upcoming Miss Minden St. Jude Pageant in June, while newly crowned Miss Louisiana’s Teen Ava Martin will lead a dance party during the event.
Additional activities will include kickball, tug-of-war, playground time, the splash pad, a bubble party, and visits with adoptable dogs from LaMa Animal Rescue.
Local law enforcement officers, firefighters, teachers, and coaches are also expected to participate in the games, and the Minden Fire Department will have a fire truck on site for children to explore.
Organizers said refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon, with drinks provided by Coca-Cola of Minden and Minden Police Chief Jared McIver. Hot dogs and chips will be provided by Ryan Barnette for Minden Police Chief, and a snow cone truck will also be present.
The Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry will be on site collecting donations for its Kids Summer Food Program. Requested items include granola bars, small peanut butter containers, tuna packets, Jell-O or pudding packs, juice packs, cereal bars, Pop-Tarts, small grab-and-go cereal boxes, and chips.
Organizers are encouraging families to attend dressed for water activities and prepared to enjoy an afternoon of games, food, music, and community fellowship.
Additional updates will be posted on the Young Women’s Service Club of Minden, LA Facebook page.
