The Arc Caddo-Bossier is excited to announce that Dr. Cade Brumley, Louisiana State Superintendent of Education, will serve as the keynote speaker for the organization’s annual Leadership Breakfast, to be held Friday, September 16, 2022. Dr. Brumley has served as Louisiana’s Superintendent of Education since May 2020. Prior to his entrance into state-level education, Dr. Brumley served as the Superintendent for both DeSoto Parish Schools and Jefferson Parish Schools. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, a Masters of Education in School Administration from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, and a Doctorate of Education in School Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
In his 2+ years at the Louisiana Department of Education, Dr. Cade Brumley has led a number of efforts to improve educational opportunities in our state. These efforts include: the reading-focused “Louisiana Literacy” initiative, the “Fast Forward” initiative, which gives high school students the chance to pursue career opportunities and/or college credits while working towards their diploma; and the Models of Excellence program, which celebrates examples of excellence among Louisiana’s schools and school systems.
Dr. Brumley’s leadership has proved strong in the face of adversity, particularly in the last couple of years. Under his leadership, Louisiana produced the country’s “3rd most aggressive return to school plan” (American Enterprise Institute) following COVID-19 shutdowns. Additionally, he started the “Louisiana Comeback” campaign to “recover learning loss” (LDOE) created not only by COVID-19, but some of the largest hurricanes in our state’s history. As an organization whose founding program, Goldman School and Child Development Center, started for the purpose of building educational opportunities for those who had none, we are so honored to welcome Dr. Cade Brumley to The Arc Caddo-Bossier!
