Maison Wilbanks to host journaling workshop at Geaux Fresh

by Amber McDown

Maison Wilbanks, the reigning 2024 Miss Minden, is set to lead a journaling workshop at Geaux Fresh on Saturday, February 24. The workshop aims to educate participants on how journaling can improve mental health.

Wilbanks discovered the benefits of journaling during a challenging period in her senior year of high school. “I went through a lot of mental battles. It was a really dark and hard time,” she shared. “I’ve always been the type of person that keeps everything to myself. I’m very closed and don’t share what’s going on.”

Inspired by a content creator who highlighted the therapeutic advantages of journaling, Wilbanks decided to give it a try. “I started talking to the adults who have been mentors for me about journaling, and they pushed me to try it,” she explained.

Wilbanks emphasized the importance of mental and spiritual fitness, stating, “My goal through my initiative is to share knowledge and resources to help others strengthen their all-around fitness.”

The workshop will include a general journaling session from 10:30 AM to noon, followed by lunch from noon to 1 PM, and a prayer journaling session from 1 PM to 2:30 PM. All sessions are open to participants who sign up. Geaux Fresh, located at 801 Broadway Street in Minden, is offering pre-ordered boxed lunches for $14.50. Journals and pens will be provided.
