Funeral services for Martha McCollum Carlton were at 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden with the Rev. Bill Crider and the Rev. Steve Gilley officiating. Interment followed at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family received friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Martha was born Oct. 23, 1928 in Washington, DC and entered into rest April 16, 2015 in Minden.
She believed in giving back to her community. She served as president of Women in Construction, former director of Minden Main Street Program, longtime board member of The Gaslight Players in Shreveport, and organizer of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Lay Marsh and husband William Edward, Cathlyn Lay Braunig; grandchildren, Belle Adonia Braunig, Mary Elizabeth Valadez, Julia Anne Sung and Shawn Joseph Marsh; and great-grandchildren, James Sebastian Sung and Jonathan Joseph Sung.
