A high profile convicted drug dealer got 30-plus years in prison at sentencing Friday by 26th Judicial District Judge Parker Self.
Keddrick Kennon, convicted of distribution of a Schedule II CDS and possession of a Schedule II CDS, will spend 30 years in prison for the distribution charge, plus an extra five years for the possession charge at hard labor at the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
He will receive credit for time served as he has been incarcerated since his arrest in April 2014. Both sentences are to run consecutive.
He was originally charged with three counts of Schedule II CDS (crack cocaine) and one count of distribution of false pretense of CDS. Kennon was acquitted of the later charge.
District Attorney Schuyler Marvin filed the habitual offender bill, which strengthened his sentence. Kennon had three prior convictions on drug offenses, which opened the door for the habitual offender filing.
Minden Police Captains Marvin Garrett and Dan Weaver say Kennon’s history is a long one. Garrett and Weaver say he was one of the community’s top drug dealers.

I don’t kno the brother nor can I speak on if he’s innocent or guilty..wat I will say is the sentencing guidelines r over the top…I am also black and I feel this man was handed a sentence most convicted rapist don’t receive..I’m not a dealer or user but its my choice..just as its other peoples choice if they wanna use…we will never stop drug dealing or using…we kno that and so do they…

Innocent or guilty, either way that’s a ridiculous sentence. Unfortunately if you look at the stereotype If the man was Caucasian, the sentence wouldn’t be that high. however, I strongly believe that the Minden Police Department and affiliates are highly corrupt from the top down so this does not come at a surprise.

I went to prison for 5 damn years for drugs and let me say I’m a white female and the black guy behind me only got 2 years hard labor with 3 years probation for Molestion of his niece!!!! Nobody hollar about race then and that was my first drug charge!!!! People need to grow up and stop playing that damn race card!!!!! I see no color
