A Minden man was arrested Monday after a domestic dispute with his wife turned physical, according to Minden police.
Officers were dispatched around 5 PM October 13 to a home in the 100 block of Squires Street in reference to a disturbance between a husband and wife. When officers arrived, they found the woman crying in a back room of the residence.
She told officers she and her husband, Donovan Youngblood, 28, had argued after she told him she wanted a divorce. The argument reportedly escalated, with Youngblood becoming angry and damaging property inside the home, including punching a hole in a bedroom door and pulling it off the hinges.
According to police, the wife said Youngblood then threatened her with a knife, telling her that if she called police, he would harm himself and her. She also reported that Youngblood grabbed her by the neck while trying to take their child from her, leaving visible scratches and bruises. She was examined by EMS but not transported.
When officers attempted to arrest Youngblood, he resisted by pulling away and stating he was not going to jail, according to the report. Officers used minimal force to detain him, during which he struck his head, causing a laceration that was treated at the scene by EMS.
Youngblood was arrested and booked on charges of domestic abuse with child endangerment and resisting an officer.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
