Minden man arrested on battery charge

Contravious PattesonA man accused of hitting a woman with a closed fist was arrested by Minden Police.

Contravious Patterson, 18, of the 400 block of Front Street, was arrested Saturday, March 26, for domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says about 8 p.m., Officer Russell Engi was dispatched to a domestic violence call in the 400 block of Front Street.

“Engi made contact with the victim and apparently the victim had been struck several times by Patterson with his fists, striking the victim in the mouth,” he said. “The victim indicated he would not allow her to leave for an extended period of time.”

Cropper says the victim had visible injuries to her face and mouth.

Patterson was placed under arrest, booked at police headquarters and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
