Minden REC offers free week of youth swimming lessons

by Amber McDown

The Minden REC will offer a free week of swimming lessons to youth residents of the City of Minden as part of a six-week summer program.

The lessons, which run from the end of May through mid-July, are available for children ages 5 to 12 and include beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. The first week of lessons will be free for city residents.

“The City Council, the Minden Recreation Department, and I are committed to ensuring every child’s safety and confidence in the water. By teaching our kids to swim, we are building a stronger, safer community. That’s why, this year, we’re proud to offer free swimming lessons to all Minden resident children ages 5–12,” Mayor Nick Cox said.

Registration for the program opens May 27. For more information, visit MindenREC.org or call (318) 371-4235.
