The 39th annual Minden Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will be held January 17–19, featuring a youth rally, worship services, a community march and a day of service. The theme for the 2026 observance is “Lift every voice, live every dream.”

The celebration begins Saturday, January 17, with an MLK Youth Rally and Vendor Expo from 11 AM to 2 PM at Webster Junior High School.

A commemorative service is scheduled for Sunday, January 18, at 3 PM at Mt. Zion CME Church. The service will include MLK Leadership and contest awards presentations.

Events continue Monday, January 19, with the Ecumenical March on MLK Drive at 10 AM followed by an MLK Prayer Call at noon. An MLK Day of Service and Giving will take place throughout the day, with MLK Community Reflections scheduled for 6 PM via Zoom.

Organizers are also seeking participants for the 2026 MLK Celebration Community Choir. Rehearsals are set for Tuesday, January 13, at 7 PM and Thursday, January 15, at 7 PM at Mt. Zion CME Church, 414 E. Union St. in Minden. All singers and choir members are invited to participate.

Organizers said the annual celebration serves as an opportunity for the Minden community to come together in remembrance of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., while promoting unity, service and shared purpose. Through worship, education, fellowship and volunteerism, the events are designed to encourage residents of all ages to reflect on Dr. King’s message and continue working collectively to strengthen the community.
