A Minden woman was arrested Wednesday, May 6, after police investigated a reported fight between a mother and daughter inside a taxi cab near North Middle Landing, according to a Minden Police Department report.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:44 AM in reference to two women fighting inside a taxi cab in the North Middle Landing area.
When officers arrived, they were initially unable to locate the vehicle. Another officer later stopped a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.
Police said the driver, identified as Lamika Hamilton, 48, admitted she had been involved in a disturbance with her daughter.
Dispatch later advised officers that the daughter was at the Minden Police Department. When officers made contact with her, they observed an apparent wound on her forehead that was bleeding. Police also noted that her clothing appeared disheveled, as though someone had attempted to rip her shirt.
According to the report, the daughter told officers she had been riding with her mother, who works as a cab driver, after a family friend suggested she accompany her. During the day, Lamika Hamilton allegedly became upset with a customer and later attempted to force the daughter out of the vehicle.
The daughter reportedly told officers she refused to leave because she had nowhere to go and was expected to appear in Minden City Court later that afternoon.
Police said the daughter alleged her mother later accused her of having a crack pipe, parked the vehicle in the North Middle Landing area, and attempted to force her out of the cab by pulling on her shirt and reaching into her bra while searching for the item. She also alleged her mother scratched and punched her during the altercation.
Lamika Hamilton was detained and transported to the police department for questioning. After being advised of her rights, Hamilton reportedly admitted she had attempted to remove her daughter from the vehicle and acknowledged the pair had been “tussling.”
Following the investigation, Lamika Hamilton was arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery and cruelty to juveniles.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
