Flo Ward, the FEMA crew lead for Webster Parish, addressing the Minden Lion's Club. She spoke on how FEMA has registered almost 900 individuals and encouraged attendees to let their friends and family know that FEMA is here for them. "A denial letter is not the final step," Ward said, explaining that something as simply forgetting to put a number on the registration form could lead to one. "Come talk to us and we will work with you to get to the next step." Jordan Wilson/Press-Herald

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is changing its hours of operation at its disaster recovery center.

Since the flooding on March 8, FEMA teams have been in Webster Parish seven days a week, but the disaster recovery center at the Webster Parish Courthouse Annex, the former Regions Bank building, will be closing its doors on Sundays. Hours of operation will continue Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

To date, 858 people have registered for FEMA assistance in Webster Parish, with a total of roughly $2 million given to flood victims. Nearly 35,000 flood victims have filed claims with FEMA statewide.

Disaster recovery officials are still in the area with boots on the ground in the disaster recovery centers, conducting housing inspections and providing survivor assistance and mitigation specialists.

Those affected by flooding who still haven’t registered can do so by visiting the disaster recovery center, going online to www.disasterassistance.gov or calling 1-800-621-3362.
The parish courthouse annex is located at 401 Main Street in Minden.
