The LSU AgCenter Northwest Region’s annual Master Cattleman Class completed its ten-week run on Tuesday, April 28, 2025, with a graduation ceremony. This year’s course was held at the LSU AgCenter Red River Research Station in Bossier City. Over the course of ten weeks, graduates learned valuable information about all phases of beef production including nutrition, reproduction, herd health, pastures and forages, cattle handling, economics, marketing, weed control, the end product, and more. As part of completing the Master Cattleman Class, graduates became Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified as well.
Producers who completed the course included Viktoria Moczygemba, David Womack, Jason Vaughan, Danielle Vaughan, Lee Rodgers, Adam Caughern, Shawn Wright, Jake Spinney, Kennon Gaspard, Kole Gaspard, Charles Woods, Craig Smith, Bart Dobson, and Dr. Brent Green. The participants in the Master Cattleman Class from Webster were Charles Woods and Craig Smith. From Bienville, Lee Rodgers was the Master Cattleman Class participant.
The Louisiana Master Cattleman Program was developed in 2004 to increase cattle producers’ knowledge of the cattle industry and help them become more profitable.
