Quilt show kicks off Thursday

The Southern Comforts: Making of a Quilt show kicks off with a reception at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Art Works in downtown Minden. The show will run through Oct. 31. Patricia Williams, Beulah McJimsey and Barbara Martin stands in front of quilt made by Pauline Pope.

Quilt making classes will also be held on Saturday’s during the show. Saturday, Patricia Williams will demonstrate machine cutting. Sept. 23, Beulah McJimsey will show how to machine piece a quilt followed by a hand tying demonstration by Barbara Martin on Sept. 30 and top construction by Pauline Pope on Oct. 7.

Demonstrations begin at 11 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. Show participants include Pauline Pope, Barbara Martin, Casandra Swan, Grace Wilson, Gloria Alstork, Virginia Jefferson, Byretha Hamilton, Truvesta Johnson, Patricia Williams, Beulah McJimsey and Lena Kelly.
