Rosalind Eileen Daniels Nelson was born on April 15, 1950 to the late Joshua Daniels Sr. and Roberta Brooks Daniels in New Bern, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James C. Nelson, sister, Gertrude Spelman, and brothers Alfred Daniels, Wilfred Daniels, and Joshua Daniels Jr. 

Rosalind obtained her formal education in Craven County, North Carolina, and New York City Public School Systems. After graduating from Jane Addams High School in The Bronx, she attended Fordham Law School in the Bronx, New York City. She left New York City to be with the love of her life. On October 27, 1978, she married James Charles Young-Nelson in Minden, Louisiana. This union, producing two daughters, lasted until his death on October 22, 2017. 

While living in Louisiana, Rosalind later attended and graduated from Southern University in Shreveport, and Grambling State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Science Education. She began teaching in the Caddo Parish Public School System, making an impact on students at Byrd High, Fair Park High, Caddo Academic Career and Recovery in Shreveport (now Ombudsman), and North Caddo High in Vivian until her retirement. 

Her memory is cherished by two daughters, Dr. Alexis N. Morris (LT) of Haughton, Louisiana, and Dreya Nelson of Minden, a devoted and generous son-in-love, LT Morris, a loving uncle and aunt, Cardell and Gracie Nelson of Minden, her good friends Stephia McClinton and Jacquelyn Jackson, both of Minden, along with a host of nieces, nephews, former students, and friends. 

Graveside Services for Rosalind Nelson will be held Saturday, October 10t 11:00 A.M. at the St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 9th in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary.
