The Scottish Tartan Festival will return to Miller Quarters Park on Saturday, May 2, offering a full day of Scottish culture, music, and traditional games.
The festival will feature a variety of entertainment, including traditional and modern Celtic music performances by The Rogues, The Dead Reckoning String Band, and Chambless, Muse and Vogts. Dance performances are scheduled from the Thistle Dancers & Pipers and the Jackson Irish Dancers, showcasing Highland dance and Irish jigs.
Attendees will have opportunities to explore Scottish heritage through clan tents and artisan exhibits, as well as demonstrations from craftsmen. The event will also include the Highland Games competition, with contests such as strength and skill challenges, along with a dog show for attendees’ pets.
Additional activities include the haggis-eating contest, where participants compete to finish a pound of the traditional Scottish dish, as well as a variety of Scottish and festival foods available for purchase. Guests can also participate in dancing around the Maypole, interact with a Highland cow, and shop from Celtic vendors.
Gates will open at 9 AM. Admission is $15 for ages 13 and older, $5 for children ages 6–12, and free for children 5 and under.
Organizers describe the event as a daylong celebration, or “Ceilidh,” a Gaelic term for a social gathering or party, bringing together music, food, and cultural traditions for the community.
