More than $10,000 in cash, methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, and Ecstasy seized

A months-long narcotics investigation by the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office culminated Wednesday morning with the arrest of a Sibley man and the seizure of multiple illegal drugs and more than $10,000 in cash.

Deotis Germany, 31, is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on multiple felony drug charges following the execution of search warrants at his residence and a traffic stop conducted shortly after 9 AM Wednesday.

According to Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker, investigators had spent weeks developing information and following leads related to suspected drug trafficking activity before obtaining the warrants.

Authorities said Lt. Damian Christian stopped Germany after he left his residence on Frazier Road. During a search of Germany and his vehicle, investigators reportedly recovered $1,105 in cash.

At the same time, members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and patrol division executed a search warrant at the residence. Deputies found a juvenile female inside the home and escorted her outside while the search was conducted.

Investigators reported locating a backpack in the master bedroom containing approximately 162 grams of suspected methamphetamine, about 49 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana, approximately 26 grams of marijuana, and two bags containing suspected Ecstasy pills.

The backpack also contained $7,536 in cash in various denominations, according to authorities. An additional $1,500 was reportedly found inside a dresser.

After being advised of his Miranda rights, Germany allegedly claimed ownership of the narcotics and cash, investigators said.

Germany was booked on charges of possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substances with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I Ecstasy with intent to distribute, and possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a juvenile.

Sheriff Parker credited investigators for the successful conclusion of the case.

“This arrest is the result of many man-hours and hard work on the part of our investigators,” Parker said. “They began working on information they received, worked all the leads and got everything they needed to secure the warrants. It was a thorough job.”

Maj. Bobby Igo III, who oversees the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, said coordination between investigators and patrol deputies played a key role in the arrest.

“This was an example of real teamwork between our investigators and patrol division,” Igo said. “We were able to coordinate the vehicle stop and the search warrant at the residence simultaneously. It was good work by everyone.”

Germany’s legal troubles continued later the same day.

According to an additional arrest report, Germany was being processed into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center after his arrest when correctional staff allegedly discovered several baggies containing a green leafy substance packaged for individual sale during a search.

As a result, Germany was also charged with introduction of contraband into a penal institution.

His bond had not been set as of Wednesday.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
