SIBLEY — The Town of Sibley will host an elder fraud awareness session on Thursday, June 25, as part of its community outreach program.

The free event will begin at 10 AM at Sibley Town Hall, 345 N Main Street, and is open to the public. Organizers encourage older adults, caregivers, family members, and anyone interested in protecting seniors from fraud to attend.

The program, presented by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, will focus on helping participants recognize, prevent, and report scams that commonly target older adults.

Topics will include phone scams, identity theft, online and email fraud, financial exploitation, and Medicare and insurance scams. Attendees will learn warning signs to watch for and steps they can take to safeguard themselves and their loved ones from fraudulent schemes.

Town officials said the session will provide practical information for seniors as well as relatives and caretakers who help manage finances, healthcare, and other personal matters for aging family members.

Residents interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling Town Hall at (318) 377-0345.

The event is part of the town’s ongoing efforts to provide educational resources and community outreach opportunities for local residents.
