Smoke-like vapor near courthouse caused by A/C issue, officials say

A cloud that resembled smoke and was seen near the Webster Parish Courthouse on the evening of May 22 was caused by a malfunctioning air conditioning unit, according to fire officials.

Minden Fire Chief Brian Williams said an A/C compressor developed a leak, producing a vapor cloud that appeared to be smoke. The Minden Fire Department responded to the scene along with the courthouse’s Maintenance Superintendent.

There were no injuries reported, and no fire was discovered.
